February 3, 2003
There's much to report this month, so I'll just jump right into the fray.
First things first
WEBSITE UPDATESMarch and April 2003 comic book solicitations have been added to the previews listings. Not to be outdone, the comicography includes several recent releases. In addition, an interview I conducted with orcafresh.net is posted on the articles page. Also, I look forward to your continuing message board posts regarding my current comics credits, including the first few issues of the just released nine-part BATGIRL YEAR ONE. Now the good stuff |
CREATIVE COLLABORATIONSI'm pleased to report that I've teamed with several guest artists for a few upcoming offerings from my respective publishers: DC COMICS Regular BATMAN: GOTHAM KNIGHTS penciler Roger Robinson gets a much deserved vacation from Gotham City for two issues in the not-so-distant future. First up is GK #41, a tale rendered by Toby Cypress (BATMAN/NIGHTWING: BLOODBORNE). It's called "Rubber Soul" and features a fairly flexible guest-star! The following month in GK #42, penciler Dave Ross (BIRDS OF PREY, JLA: ACT OF GOD) renders "Twenty Days Less One" a poignant story devoted to Alfred Pennyworth, one of my all-time favorite Bat-Characters. After that, Roger returns to active duty with the first installment of the three-part "Knights Passed" storyline! CROSSGEN COMICS Frequent RUSE pinch-hitter Paul Ryan joins me on distant Arcadia once more for RUSE #20, a change-of-pace issue for Simon Archard, Emma Bishop, and the gentle folk of Partington. |
ANIMATED ADVENTURESAfter months of stalling, I can at long last let the bat out of the bag. This Spring Dorling Kindersley will simultaneously release two new DC Comics superhero tomes I recently authored. BATMAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES GUIDE and SUPERMAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES GUIDE are two "kid-friendly" books aimed at young readers. Both are based on the Warner Bros. Cartoon series and DC Comics' animated-style renderings of the World's Finest team, and-like DK's Ultimate Guides-are very nice primers to introduce children to the respective worlds inhabited by the Dark Knight and Man of Steel. Click on either image for a larger view of each book's cover! |
WONDERFUL NEWS
No, the other one! WONDER
WOMAN: THE ULTIMATE GUIDE TO THE AMAZING AMAZON is slated for late 2003 release and
will clock in at 144-pages, larger than all previous Ultimate
Guides I've written! Also, while not official there is talk that Dorling Kindersley might attempt to offer some "bulletproof" premiums to promote the book at upcoming conventions. You devout Wonder Woman fans
KNOW what I mean. |
MEGA-WHAT?Lastly, I've recently finalized plans to attend this year's MegaCon comic book convention in Orlando, Florida from February 28th - March 2nd. Mainly, I'm going to escape the cold weather doldrums. Otherwise, you can find me signing books at the CrossGen Comics booth when I'm not scouring the convention floor for things I don't need. |
Best,
Susquehanna Scott sees his shadow! Promises six more months of winter!
