First off, my sincere apologies for taking so damn long to update the site (with the able assistance of webmaster/guru Scott McCullar). The past few months have been a whirlwind of activity for me. I've written or co-written ten comic book scripts, my latest DK book, and a slew of other comic-related projects. Finally, I can relax a bit and fill you in on the latest happenings:
Though
it's old news by now, I'm pleased to announce that I will be assuming
the writing chores of DC Comics' BATMAN: GOTHAM KNIGHTS with issue #32, beginning this
August. My very talented predecessor Devin Grayson is moving over
to chronicle the ongoing exploits of original Boy Wonder Dick
Grayson in NIGHTWING. It's a bit early to discuss
my plans on the book, however I can say that I'm two issues into
my first four-issue story arc and I'm having a BLAST! Obviously,
the Bat-Characters are near and dear to my heart
and I'm
very much looking forward to working with editor Lysa Hawkins
and penciler Roger Robinson to tell some unforgettable
Bat-Tales with the entire cast and crew at our disposal.[BATMAN: GOTHAM KNIGHTS logo and © DC Comics. All rights reserved.]
A quick update: Chuck Dixon and I are two-thirds of the way through this nine-issue mini-series, tentatively slated for Fall 2002 release. We've already seen some truly wonderful pages from caped crusading penciler Marcos Martin, sure to be this year's breakout talent! Oh yeah, be on the lookout for some very surprising guest-stars as Chuck and I revisit Barbara Gordon's formative year.
As I write this, a stack of art proofs from SUPERMAN: THE ULTIMATE GUIDE TO THE MAN OF STEEL is piled high on my desk. All principle text is finished and I'm merely making eleventh hour revisions and corrections. As I've mentioned previously, the hardcover follow-up to my BATMAN: THE ULTIMATE GUIDE from Dorling Kindersley (DK) will be available this July through Amazon.com, comic book retailers, and booksellers everywhere. Check back next month for a preview of the cover, and as the release date looms closer, I'll provide a sneak peek of a few super-interior pages. Now, the big news
JLA:
THE ULTIMATE GUIDEThat's right
JLA.
DK is
barely giving me time to catch my breath before setting me to
work on an Ultimate Guide devoted to DC Comics' premier super-team:
The Justice League of America! As a lifelong JLA fan, I'm
pretty giddy about this one. What's more, this edition is slated
for a November 2002 release! Expect character bios, a comprehensive
timeline detailing all the League's major exploits, and the most
expansive diagram of the Watchtower and previous JLA headquarters
ever produced!

For my international posters and readers, I'd also like pass along the news that Dino (a German publisher) and Rizzolli (an Italian publisher) will be printing their own editions of BATMAN: THE ULTIMATE GUIDE TO THE DARK KNIGHT. I'll update with more details soon.
Finally, later this month I'll be making a convention appearance at MegaCon, taking place at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida. The Southeast's premiere comic, gaming, sci-fi/fantasy, anime, and multimedia convention commences February 22-24, with Kevin Smith (GREEN ARROW) serving as Guest of Honor. Be excellent to one another and thank you for your continued support.
Best,
A cure for the common cold, alternatives to fossil fuels, and a better mousetrap!
