Obviously, if you've seen the HOME page teaser and clicked directly here, you're awaiting some sort of announcement regarding a BATGIRL: YEAR ONE project.
And here it is:
DC Comics gave Chuck Dixon and me official marching orders to begin work chronicling the earliest crime fighting adventures of Barbara Gordon, a story we had pitched even while finishing up last year's successful ROBIN: YEAR ONE. Heck, we even indulged a bit of foreshadowing to prepare readers for our intended plans (see below).

Once more, it's a Dixon/Beatty
joint, though we're joined this time around by the phenomenally
talented Marcos Martin on pencils. Marcos pinch-hit on
the final issue of R:Y1 and can be seen rendering this October's
THE JOKER: LAST LAUGH #2. Keep an eye on him. This
guy's gonna be HUGE.
That's all I'll say for now
though I hope to be able to talk
about format and number of issues next update. Stay tuned. ![]()
ULTIMATE UPDATEDAs promised, this month I'm offering more SNEAK PEEK pages from BATMAN: THE ULTIMATE GUIDE TO THE DARK KNIGHT. In preparation for the September 1 release date, I've included both THE JOKER (in honor of the upcoming THE JOKER: LAST LAUGH) and MAN-BAT (always a personal fave) to the collection of preview spreads.
Plus, the ARTICLES
page now includes a link to an ULTIMATE-specific interview
I recently conducted with Comic Book Resources' Comic Wire.
The first annual Scranton Comic Book Convention will be held September 23 at the Clarion Hotel in Scranton from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. I'll be in attendance the entire time (including trying out West End Games' DCUniverse RPGs), as will the following comics pros:
Chuck Dixon (NIGHTWING, ROBIN, BIRDS OF PREY)
Graham Nolan (REX MORGAN, M.D., THE PHANTOM, DETECTIVE
COMICS)
Tom Derenick (X-MEN, CABLE, NIGHTSIDE)
Cujo Press (CABAL)
Countess Lilith Stabs (B-Movie Vixen, Comics Cover Model)
Chris Ring (CARBON KNIGHT)
Beau Schemery (SATAN'S BAKE SALE)
Hope to see you all in Northeastern
Pennsylvania for the show!
UNDER
A RED SUNFinally, Super-Fans might want to note that SUPERMAN: THE ULTIMATE GUIDE, which I'll be writing through the end of this year, is tentatively scheduled for a July 2002 release from the fine folks at DC Comics and Dorling Kindersley.
That's the news for now. See ya
on the MESSAGE BOARD and back here next month!
Best,
Now that would be telling!
