BATMAN: THE ULTIMATE GUIDE TO THE DARK KNIGHT

Recommended for ages 12 and up, this first DC Comics "Ultimate Guide" from Dorling Kindersley has been a real labor of love for me, as well as for DC editor Steve Korté, DK editor Alastair Dougall, and illustrator Roger Stewart.

While I'm saving the best material for the book itself (including absolutely spectacular renderings of the Batcaves and Bat-Vehicles), I thought I'd offer a small preview of what readers can expect.

Be forewarned, that by clicking on some of the spreads below may be graphic intensive for some browsers.

In the ROBIN spread, note Roger's great cutaway views of Tim Drake's tunic and utility belt, as well as brief history of the third Boy Wonder.

Check out the BAT-WEAPONS spread, as Roger and I assemble the Dark Knight's arsenal of Batarangs (one for every occasion!) and other exotic non-lethal deterrents.

THE JOKER's predilection for mayhem is explored alongside a classic depiction by Brian Bolland, cover artist for the book-ending issues of DC Comics' THE JOKER: LAST LAUGH this October!

Gotham's other "Bat-Man" is spotlighted in this spread devoted to Kirk Langstrom, a.k.a. MAN-BAT! And how could we forget little Aaron Langstrom, the unfortunate Baby-Bat!
