SNEAK PEEK

JLA: THE ULTIMATE GUIDE TO THE JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA

Recommended for JLA fans of all ages, the third DC Comics "Ultimate Guide" from Dorling Kindersley is a wonderful complement to BATMAN: THE ULTIMATE GUIDE TO THE DARK KNIGHT and SUPERMAN: THE ULTIMATE GUIDE TO THE MAN OF STEEL.

Here's a "Sneak Peek" at a few of the dynamic spreads readers can look forward to seeing inside this introduction to the Justice League's amazing adventures.

GREEN LANTERN and his associates take center stage on this spread, which features a full-body rendering of Kyle Rayner's new Green Lantern costume (as designed by Jim Lee), as well as nifty three-dimensional renderings of several GL Power Rings!

THE WATCHTOWER

[Click on spread to view at full size.]

Readers of DC Comics' JLA know that THE WATCHTOWER is the Justice League's high-tech lunar retreat. This specially commissioned artwork provides the very first glimpse inside the most recent design of JLA Headquarters.

In addition, below are black-and-white renderings of JLA technology also seen inside the book, as illustrated by the talented Roger Stewart!

SUPERMAN: THE ULTIMATE GUIDE TO THE MAN OF STEEL

Recommended for ages 12 and up, the second DC Comics "Ultimate Guide" from Dorling Kindersley is a perfect companion to BATMAN: THE ULTIMATE GUIDE TO THE DARK KNIGHT.

Once more I'm offering up an advance look at some of the eye-popping spreads readers can look forward to seeing inside the book itself.

CLARK KENT

[Click on spread to view at full size.]

Where BATMAN: THE ULTIMATE GUIDE was dark and brooding (befitting the character, of course), SUPERMAN: TUG is brighter and more optimistic, as can be seen in the CLARK KENT spread.

METROPOLIS

[Click on spread to view at full size.]

New SUPERMAN artist Scott McDaniel rendered this great never-before-seen map of METROPOLIS!

BATMAN: THE ULTIMATE GUIDE TO THE DARK KNIGHT

Recommended for ages 12 and up, this first DC Comics "Ultimate Guide" from Dorling Kindersley has been a real labor of love for me, as well as for DC editor Steve Korté, DK editor Alastair Dougall, and illustrator Roger Stewart.

While I'm saving the best material for the book itself (including absolutely spectacular renderings of the Batcaves and Bat-Vehicles), I thought I'd offer a small preview of what readers can expect.

Be forewarned that clicking on some of the spreads below may be graphic intensive for some browsers.

[Click on spread to view at full size.]

In the ROBIN spread, note Roger's great cutaway views of Tim Drake's tunic and utility belt, as well as brief history of the third Boy Wonder.

[Click on spread to view at full size.]

Check out the BAT-WEAPONS spread, as Roger and I assemble the Dark Knight's arsenal of Batarangs (one for every occasion!) and other exotic non-lethal deterrents.

[Click on spread to view at full size.]

THE JOKER's predilection for mayhem is explored alongside a classic depiction by Brian Bolland, cover artist for the book-ending issues of DC Comics' THE JOKER: LAST LAUGH this October!

[Click on spread to view at full size.]

Gotham's other "Bat-Man" is spotlighted in this spread devoted to Kirk Langstrom, a.k.a. MAN-BAT! And how could we forget little Aaron Langstrom, the unfortunate Baby-Bat!
